The Taylor Guitars 112ce Special Edition Honeyburst combines a compact design with the signature Taylor sound. As a Grand Concert acoustic guitar, it features high-quality craftsmanship, a striking honeyburst finish, and versatile performance capabilities. A solid top delivers a resonant tone with clear response and impressive projection despite the compact body size. The integrated pickup system ensures reliable and natural sound reproduction when amplified. Made in Mexico and supplied with a matching gig bag, this model offers professional quality, excellent portability, and refined aesthetics in a well-designed overall package.
The Taylor 112ce Special Edition Honeyburst produces a surprisingly full sound for its compact size. At its core is a solid torrefied spruce top. This specialized heat treatment gives the wood a more mature structure, resulting in an open response and a “played-in” tonal character. Traditional X-bracing enhances top vibration while maintaining structural stability and dynamic range. Clearly defined highs provide brilliance and projection, while laminated sapele back and sides add warmth and a focused midrange. The result is a lively, balanced tone well suited for both strumming and fingerstyle playing.
The compact Grand Concert body sits comfortably against the player, making the instrument easy to handle and highly portable. With a short 632 mm scale length, string tension is reduced, making fretting and barre chords noticeably easier. Chords ring out effortlessly, while fast passages remain precise and fluid. The cutaway allows easy access to the upper frets. A sturdy maple neck promotes a natural hand position and stability, while the eucalyptus fingerboard provides a smooth surface for accurate articulation. Chrome-plated die-cast tuners ensure stable tuning and precise adjustment.
The Taylor Expression System 2 is designed to deliver natural, dynamic amplified acoustic tone. Unlike conventional systems, the ES2 captures string energy behind the saddle using an innovative sensor design, accurately translating the top’s movement into a detailed and authentic signal. The result is a clear, open sound with excellent articulation and dynamic response. Subtle nuances in playing are reproduced faithfully, while chords retain depth and clarity. Integrated controls allow flexible adjustment of volume and tone to suit different musical contexts.
The guitar is completed with an expressive yet refined look. The honeyburst finish gives the top a vibrant color gradient while highlighting the natural wood grain. The matte finish provides a modern, understated appearance and a pleasant tactile feel. A black pickguard creates a striking contrast to the warm burst tones and complements the overall aesthetic. Altogether, the 112ce Special Edition Honeyburst combines timeless design with a distinctive visual identity.
As one of the world’s leading guitar manufacturers, Taylor is widely regarded as a benchmark for quality and innovation. Precision manufacturing by skilled specialists results in instruments built to last, often retaining or even increasing their value over time. Carefully selected tonewoods such as spruce, mahogany, cedar, and koa are seasoned for stability and tonal consistency. This commitment to quality extends beyond the instruments themselves to accessories such as gig bags and cases. Rigorous final inspection ensures that every guitar meets exacting standards before it leaves the factory.
Environmental responsibility is also a core principle at Taylor.
Uncontrolled deforestation and overexploitation lead to massively endangered wood species that can no longer regenerate due to the high rate of extraction. These include ebony and koa in particular, whose dwindling stocks and the resulting ecological problems have prompted a rethink at

Ebony has long been prized for fingerboards due to its durability and smooth feel. However, high demand and illegal logging led to severe depletion, with ebony being placed on the endangered species list in 1994. Traditionally, only the uniformly black heartwood was used, resulting in significant waste. Since 2011, Taylor has partnered with the Crelicam Wood Mill in Yaoundé, Cameroon, to promote responsible harvesting and full utilization of the wood. Today, Taylor uses ebony in a range of natural color variations, reducing waste and helping to preserve the species.
"We need to use the
Koa populations have also declined significantly due to overexploitation. To address this, Taylor Guitars together with Pacific Rim Tonewoods launched the Siglo Tonewoods Project, focused on reforestation and sustainable cultivation in Hawaii. This initiative supports long-term availability of koa and contributes to the restoration of native ecosystems.
