The Taylor 214ce DLX LTD Trans Grey Grand Auditorium is the latest model in the 200 Series, which includes a range of guitars of various designs and materials. With this model, Taylor presents a limited edition electro-acoustic acoustic guitar. Selected tonewoods and manufacturing features result in a professional instrument that is fully convincing both on stage and at Studio. For complete equipment and safe transport, the scope of delivery also includes a high-quality case.

Proven tonewoods and improved bracing create a strong sound

Exquisite tonewoods and effective bracing.

Singer-songwriters, in particular, will be pleased with the 214ce DLX LTD's assertive sound, which is quite distinctive thanks to the maple body and solid Lutz spruce top. Meanwhile, maple provides high precision due to its hard texture, which is complemented by the properties of spruce wood and bright, clear tones. It is not for nothing that these are extremely popular woods in guitar making. In addition, the Forward Shifted X-Bracing is an absolute premium feature of the 214ce. Here, the intersection of the slats is a few mm closer to the sound hole, creating a larger top area behind the bracing for improved vibration behaviour. This gives the sound more volume, which is especially beneficial to the stage presence of an instrument.

Maple neck with ebony fingerboard

Since maple is hard to beat for stability and hardness, it adds compact bass to the guitar's precise, bright sound for a balanced tone. At the same time, thanks to the velvety texture of the ebony fingerboard and its velvety texture, the fretting hand glides from fret to fret as if by itself and, in conjunction with the 42.8 mm slim nut, allows for exceptionally comfortable playability. Even the high registers can be reached unhindered due to the generous cutaway, allowing all 20 frets to be played without any problems. The Venetian Cutaway incorporated here is an absolute classic for acoustic guitars and is characterized by its rounded cutaway on the body as well as a rounded tip, which gives it additional aesthetics in addition to high functionality.

Taylor Expression System 2

The Expression System 2 is Taylor's in-house development and an absolute innovation in the field of pickup for acoustic guitars. Here, three piezo elements pick up the acoustic signals of each pair of strings directly and transmit an unadulterated sound, whose volume, bass and treble can be individually adjusted and adapted by means of three controls. These are furthermore visually discreet and therefore almost invisible.

Design

The design of the Taylor 214ce DLX LTD is characterized by discreet, perfectly coordinated elements. The matte trans-grey finish of the top allows the grain of the wood to shine through, while the black body in a high-gloss finish sets noble accents. These are also created by the white bindings, a single-ring rosette and small-diamond inlays, which complement the appearance and optical highlights.

Ebony & Koa: Sustainability at Taylor Guitars.

Uncontrolled clearing of forests and overexploitation lead to massively endangered wood species that can no longer regenerate due to the high pace of extraction. These include ebony and koa in particular, whose dwindling stocks and the resulting ecological problems have prompted a rethink at Taylor Guitars.

Sustainable ebony cultivation in Cameroon

Because ebony's hard, supple texture makes it particularly finger-friendly, it has long been the preferred choice for making fingerboards. Its attractive appearance is also extremely popular for bridges, headstock rests, bridge Pins and Bindings. However, high demand and a thriving black market outstripped stocks, landing Ebony on the Red List of Endangered Species in 1994. Moreover, only the jet-black heartwood, which makes up only a fraction of the tree, was used, resulting in a disproportionately large amount of waste in production. In order to protect the forests, Taylor has thus been working since 2011 with the Crelicam Wood Mill in Yaoundé in Cameroon to promote controlled consumption by processing waste products.

Siglo Tonewoods Project

Koa acacia populations have also suffered severe losses over the last 20 years. Unsustainable forestry as well as overexploitation led to a decline that can only be stopped by proactive action and reforestation. Therefore, Taylor Guitars together with Pacific Rim Tonewoods founded the Siglo Tonewoods project, which aims to rebuild the Hawaiian virgin forest. This is a large cultivation area for koa acacia and other species, which allows the use of koa wood on a controlled scale.
