The Tech 21 dUg Pinnick DP-3X comes from the collaboration between the King's X bass player and the New York effect company and convinces with a distinctive and individual bass sound that can be combined with a juicy overdrive. The 3-band tone control with mid-shift allows precise tuning of the sound, while the switchable overdrive can be tuned via the chunk and drive potentiometers. In addition, an integrated compressor and tuner are available, while the XLR output allows the bass signal to be picked up directly.
My band uses a low tuning and my bass is in AEADG so its easy for that low string to get lost in distortion. This was recommended from our sound engineer and it sounds great in the mix. The highs really punch through while retaining the bottom end. My only issue is with it being part of the Fly Rig range and having a super low profile has meant that when its amongst other pedals it can be tricky to hit the on/off without clipping the dials on another pedal below it, but that's more on me and my arrangement than the pedals design.
