Teenage Engineering CH-8 miki at a glance

Miki, the Tenor from Japan is one of eight singing wooden figures from the Teenage Engineering choir. Each choir member has their own look and charismatic vocal range. Everything else in this wooden ensemble is the same. As a result, the figures have mastered a repertoire of at least 26 compositions and classical songs ranging from baroque to folk. A single figure always sounds for itself, that is monophonic. With several figures, the polyphony of the ensemble increases at the same time. Up to 15 figures can be operated in a network via BLE-MIDI.

Application

In addition, it is possible to couple a single figure or several figures with OP-1 field, OP-Z and any other Bluetooth MIDI keyboard and play them with it. In addition, the Ortho remote control for start/stop and volume control can be integrated into the setup. To get the chorus going, however, a finger tip is required: a sensor in the lower part of the figure reacts to vibrations and movements, so that controlling the chorus becomes a playful experience. Tapping the figure gently on the head or the tabletop triggers play or pause. If the figure is tilted to the left or right, this increases or decreases the volume. Inside the figures is a speaker, the "digital brain", Bluetooth MIDI and the rechargeable battery via USB, which has a playback time of up to four hours.
