The Tiptop Audio SD909 is a faithful Eurorack-format clone of the iconic TR-909 snare drum and noise generator, bringing its legendary character to your modular synthesizer setup. The SD909 recreates the classic sound using two binary noise generators and two modulated triangle oscillators, all voltage-controlled. It's the precise combination of these components that produces the rich, punchy tone and broad sonic range that made the original 909 snare so iconic. As with all Tiptop Audio drum modules, the SD909 features the Dual Input Pulse Shaper circuit built into its inputs, ensuring accurate and responsive triggering within modular environments.
Thanks to voltage control over both the noise generator and oscillators, the SD909 module offers a far wider sound palette than the original TR-909. This flexibility allows for deep sound design—from authentic 909 snares to aggressive, modulated percussive textures. In addition, the integrated high-power gain circuit enables both classic analog tones and intense, clipped sounds with sharp attacks, giving you full creative control for both vintage warmth and modern punch.
The integrated Dual Input Pulse Shaper circuit allows the SD909 to be triggered reliably using standard trigger or gate signals from sequencers, clock dividers, or other pulse/clock sources—without the need to calibrate trigger levels in advance. This ensures consistent, powerful sound output regardless of the triggering device.
