Tiptop Audio TG-ONE is a 4TE wide mono sample player with a resolution of 24bit / 96kHz and designed for the Eurorack system. TG-ONE is a limited edition of the popular Tiptop Audio ONE. It was developed together with the musicians of Throbbing Gristle. The module has a slot for an SD card and is characterized by a low latency during sample playback. TG-ONE differs from other players in that it treats digital audio bits as a continuously manipulated electrical flow; a feature inspired by analog know-how. Two SD card (VCTRS) filled with samples from the electronic and industrial legend Throbbing Gristle and an SD adapter are included. The module comes in a lovingly crafted collector box.
The SD cards of the Tiptop Audio TG-ONE were compiled by Throbbing Gristle member Chris Carter himself. Carter used his sound library, which was built up over 40 years. The first card contains 128 percussive sounds and short audio snippets, while the second card contains 128 longer samples, pads and loops.
TG-ONE offers various operating modes, the primary mode being the Super Low Latency Trigger mode. In this mode, the audio files are only retrieved from the SD card, but not processed by e.g. click removal, crossfading, EQ or gain normalization. The delay after triggering is only 0.25ms. TG-ONE produces a harmonically dense, clear and detailed sound.
External control voltages are received from the TG-ONE via a multi-function socket. Pitch can be controlled in two modes: the Free Pitch mode allows you to fine tune the playback speed, subtle vibratos or wild tape effects. In Quantized Pitch mode the CVs are adapted to the 12-tone system over 3.5 octaves, which is ideal for melodic content. Control voltages also allow sequential scrolling of files on an SD card, creating effective and powerful sound variations.
Tiptop Audio's TG-ONE was originally designed to work with analog drums and envelopes, but the Sample Player is also suitable for a variety of applications that are less demanding in timing. These include gated playback, looping and triggering with fade in/out to use various sound sources - from drum loops to polysynth chords and noise sources - for unexpected applications. By inserting an SD card with LFO signals, random CV, slopes and envelopes TG-ONE offers an armada of new control and modulation possibilities.
