With the CHNL SRFR, WMD introduces a compact tool for EQ, filters, ducking and performance effects for stereo signals. The signal path comprises a parametric EQ, a DJ-style filter and a sidechain ducking effect or multi-effect. The toggle switch allows you to select which function you are currently adjusting. All three functions are active simultaneously and can be deactivated by adjusting the controls accordingly. A bypass switch is provided for quick A/B comparisons.
The parametric 3-band EQ is modelled on studio mixers and channel strips and offers an adjustable frequency range with cut/boost per band. The DJ-style filter allows simultaneous adjustment of the low-pass and high-pass bands with overdrive for dramatic sound manipulation. The third effect is a sidechain ducking effect with an adjustable envelope and its own ducking input. Alternatively, this section functions as a dub delay, chorus, flanger or reverb effect with a few additional algorithms.
Despite all these features, operation is straightforward, as the labels on the controls and the toggle switch – including the Shift mode – are clearly colour-coded. The module provides nine memory slots for the most important settings. The ducking effect has its own sidechain input, whilst an additional CV input can be freely assigned to any of the other parameters.
