With the IRIDIUM Core, Waldorf expands the Iridium family with the "smallest" member, which is nevertheless equal to the other models in most aspects. Since Iridium and Quantum share a common OS platform, many features are identical and patches (apart from those using the Quantum's analogue filters) are fully compatible. The IRIDIUM Core can do everything its big brothers can do, but takes up less space and the control focus is primarily on the touchscreen. The twelve voices of the IRIDIUM Core are distributed over two parts, so two sounds can be played simultaneously. These can be played polyphonic, mono,
At the heart of the IRIDIUM Core are its three digital oscillators, each with five selectable synthesis modes:
The oscillators on their own do some incredible things and offer an enormous range of different sounds. The number of parameters for an oscillator is already enormous, moreover, these are modulable in addition many times. The following mixer controls the volume and saturation of the tone generators. Two extremely excellent digital multimode filters follow, which contain 12/24dB LP/BP/HP combinations as well as filter models from Nave, Largo, PPG, Quantum and State Variable. In addition, the filter routing is switchable between serial and parallel starting with the oscillators! The already impressive sound palette is complemented by the Digital Former in a remarkable way. This complements the sound generation with bitcrusher, distortion, comb filter and ring modulator. The signal path is completed with five simultaneously usable effect slots per layer. Decide for yourself or Delay, Reverb, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, EQ or Compressor appear due to the free routing in the effect block.
With six loopable envelopes and LFOs as well as the Complex Modulator, which is a mixture of two LFOs with waveforms you can draw yourself(!) and an envelope, you have enough options besides the usual modulation sources like eg. ModWheel,
The high-resolution multi-touch display allows convenient access to every parameter and visually implements every move on the control panel. With impressive precision, it displays real-time changes in the sound of various sections of the synthesis process. The modulation matrix allows the
The eight backlit pads are used to play individual notes or chords. The polyphonic step sequencer has a capacity of 64 steps and even records
On the rear panel, you find all the connectors of the IRIDIUM Core. Stereo inputs and outputs, a separately adjustable headphone jack, two inputs with a small jack for control voltages, analogue clock in and out as well as inputs and outputs for MIDI connected with the included MIDI-TRS adapters. The USB device port is for data exchange with the computer and

Waldorf IRIDIUM CoreThis is a great sounding synth, and it is a lot of fun to play. The design is beautiful and intuitive and I have found it easy to learn.
Musicstore did a great job of delivering to me in the United States, it arrived quickly and in perfect condition.
The iridium core is the perfect size that packs a massive punch! The iridium has added life to my music. The clarity, detail and sound design possibilities are just amazing. I've been using VSTs and hardware for many years and the iridium offers something nothing else has. Easy, hands-on control with huge touchscreen - you can easily cook up new sounds. Highly, highly recommend this one!
