With the Wylde Audio Viking Pinstripe, Zakk Wylde's guitar company introduces an independent variant of the V electric guitar, which encourages the writing of brute riffs with active EMG pickups.
For the construction of the Wylde Audio Viking Pinstripe, Zakk Wylde uses traditional ingredients and makes the body from mahogany, while the glued neck is made from maple and provided with a rosewood fretboard. Accordingly, the Wylde Audio Viking delivers a fat basic sound with a rich punch, which is the perfect basis for tight riffs and singing solos. The strong neck lies comfortably in the hand and offers a soft playability thanks to the 625 mm scale length, while large block inlays ensure secure orientation between the 22 jumbo frets.
With an EMG 81 on the bridge and an EMG 85 on the neck, Zakk Wylde's preferred combination of active humbuckers is used, promising fat rock and metal sounds. The legendary 81 delivers an assertive sound that whips riffs and licks through the band sound with tight basses, present mids and racy highs and doesn't shy away from down-tunings. The EMG 85, on the other hand, works more moderately and delivers a warm, transparent sound that is just as suitable for clean chords as for singing solos in the overdrive channel.
