With the Yamaha CG 182 SF Flamenco Natural, the traditional Japanese manufacturer presents a high-quality 4/4 flamenco guitar that is versatile due to its materials and easy playability. Made from a solid spruce top and a cypress body, the instrument produces a powerful and bright sound, which is crisp in the mid-range and defined in the treble frequencies. Due to a very flat NATO neck with an ebony fingerboard and a nut width of 52 mm, the CG 182 can be easily and cleanly played in all frets and intones perfectly over the entire scale length of 650 mm thanks to a bridge inlay and a urea nut. Not only the golden RM-1388G-7F tuners, but also an extensive soundhole rosette, elaborate bindings and the noble satin finish round off the instrument's aesthetics perfectly and completely, so that its timeless appearance speaks for the unsurpassable know-how of the manufacturer.
Yamaha CG182SF Classical Acoustic Gui tar Nicely constructed and easy playable guitar. The low action and set up is perfect for Flamenco (3mm low E string at 12th fret) and no buzzing - I don't know if this is down to Yamaha or dv247.
The sound is bright, clear and fairly loud with that typical Flamenco Blanca vibe.
I already own a number of good classical guitars (Hanika, Esteve) in the £1000 plus area and this guitar compares favourably with them (although of course a different type of sound ) I play Classical as well as Flamenco on it and can't put it down (always a good sign)
I have given 4 stars for sound on the basis that there are guitars out there that probably sound a bit better however I don't think you'll get a better performance for under £1000.
Some Flamenco purists should note that the height of the bridge and saddle is standard classical size i.e. 10 -12 mm. This I understand is quite common on factory built Flamenco guitars that are part of a line of Classical guitars, as is the case with this Yamaha. I personally don't find this a problem and I guess many wouldn't.
