The Yamaha CP4 Stage Piano is an 88-note stage piano that has Graded Hammer Action wooden keys, intuitive controls, an incredible selection of sounds, and a sleek and portable design, making this Yamaha Stage Piano one of their best yet.
There are 45 Premium Grand pianos to choose from, like the flagship CFX grand piano from the CF series, the excellent CFIIIS full concert grand piano which was handcrafted by Yamaha, and the warmer and gentler sound of the S6 grand piano. In terms of electric pianos, there are 47 vintage models to choose from like the infamous CP80 electric grand, the legendary DX7 electric piano, the timeless RdI and RdII models, as well as the famous Wr model from the sixties and seventies.
There are also 341 voices which include everything from basses, clavs, organs, strings and pads from the amazing and very popular Motif workstation. If you’re looking for effects, there are 62 Virtual Circuit Modeling effects which include the likes of reverb, chorus, master 5-band EQ and compressor.
The onboard controls are simple and easy to use, and only require one touch operation. Voice Category buttons allow you to select the sounds you require quickly and you also have the option to save your favourites for each category. Large backlit buttons make it easy to split and layer sounds with a Main Solo function which lets you go back to using the full keyboard simply. Graded Hammer Action wooden keys with a synthetic ivory finish provide an authentic piano playing experience, and the streamline shape and light weight of the CP4 makes it extremely portable and easy to transport.

The piano has a beautiful keyboard feel (wooden keys) and really flows when you get going. It is easy to set up layered sounds and keyboard splits and recall them with one knob. The master equalizer is a great feature for getting a good sound when live. There is a control for the layered voices as well which is nice as well for micro adjustments. The CP4 retains classic midi outputs (as well as USB) which is needed for my stage setup. The piano sounds/voices are particularly nice and plenty to choose from. All in all a nice job.
