The benefits of the Smart Pianist app

The handy Smart Pianist app offers all smartphone and tablet owners with iOS or Android operating systems an even wider range of features and, above all, even greater ease of use.

• The Audio to Score function automatically generates a piano accompaniment in sheet music form from the songs on your smart device, so that you can play along with the pieces straight away.
  
• With the Backing Band auto-accompaniment feature, you always have a dynamic backing band at your disposal, which draws from a large pool of patterns and offers something suitable for various genres.
  
• Some of the piano sounds included in the CSP-255 are derived from the world-class Yamaha CFX concert grand piano and the popular Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand piano. These were recorded in meticulous detail using binaural sampling, so that factors affecting the sound – such as the instrument’s location (e.g. club, concert hall, cathedral) or even how far the lid is open – can be edited at the touch of a button. Combined with the superb keyboard, the result is astonishingly close to a real, grand concert grand piano.
  

Last but not least, the app offers detailed adjustment options which, on a purely mechanical piano, can only be altered by the instrument maker at the factory or a piano tuner.

Fantastic soundscapes

The digital sound generation impresses with the meticulously crafted sounds of the two concert grand pianos, the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial. Thanks to Virtual Resonance Modelling, these grand pianos sound astonishingly authentic down to the finest nuances, which, together with the keyboard, makes playing a real pleasure. In addition to the two concert grand pianos, the CSP-255 provides access to well over 700 further sounds! The high polyphony of 256 voices is more than sufficient to ensure that no lingering note is lost, even when playing at a faster tempo. To tailor the sounds to your personal taste, there are 65 reverb types. A Master EQ, Intelligent Acoustic Control and the Stereophonic Optimizer add that extra touch to the sound when required. The built-in vocoder creates polyphonic vocals and can also follow the notes you play. A truly impressive feature for players who want to accompany their playing with vocals!

Playing aids and other special features

Naturally, the CSP-255 PE is equipped with Dual, Layer and Split modes for the keyboard. This allows you to distribute two different sounds across the entire keyboard, whether you wish to combine an organ sound with a piano sound and strings for the bass part. With 495 preset styles, this digital piano offers a comprehensive and, above all, versatile range of playing aids. The built-in recording function can record either audio or sheet music.

The built-in stereo speakers deliver an above-average output of 40W x 2, reproducing sound powerfully and brilliantly. Two headphone outputs with high-quality pre-amplifiers ensure that you can enjoy the CSP-255 undisturbed at any time of day.
