Compact premium grand piano with balanced sound for upscale living rooms and studios
With a length of 151 cm, the GB1 is the compact entry into Yamaha's renowned world of grand pianos and, despite its small size, offers a full, resonant sound and a fine playing feel. It combines expressive sound variety, easy playability and robust construction with a compact design - especially for smaller rooms with limited space.
The workmanship
The frame was cast using the "vacuum process" developed over many years and not only withstands the string tension of over twenty tons, it also has a profound influence on the sound of the instrument. To ensure reliable quality, factors such as the temperature, the composition of the casting and the coating of the frame are carefully controlled and continuously developed. The action of the GB1 is also used in Yamaha's hybrid instruments and enables a fluid, finely nuanced playing feel - for beginners and advanced pianists alike.
The sound
The GB1 impresses with its balanced sound characteristics and wide dynamic range in the usual Yamaha quality. Despite the small dimensions of a baby grand, the GB1 can easily keep up with much larger grand pianos. It is a professional-sounding instrument with a very good price-performance ratio and is ideal as a practice instrument as well as for teaching and smaller performances.
Self-play function
The YAMAHA "Enspire" pianos can also play without human intervention. The keys and pedals move themselves, as if by magic. This is a technical "ingredient" - of course you can also play an Enspire grand piano "normally". The purpose of the Enspire technique is, for example, to play four-handed, to play the available literature, to perfect your own recordings or simply to listen to the real piano sounds in your own living room, just like in a concert hall.
The silent system - play at any time with or without volume
Thanks to the integrated silent system, you can play at any time of day or night without disturbing your family or neighbors. When silent mode is activated, the hammerheads are mechanically stopped before they touch the strings. The sound is then generated digitally and played back via headphones - with a high-quality, authentic grand piano sound that comes amazingly close to the acoustic original.
