Six-string Signature Bass of the New Yorker bass virtuoso

The Yamaha John Patitucci TRBJP2 Amber is the six-string Signature Bass of the New York-born bass virtuoso who rose to worldwide fame outside the jazz scene with his distinctive, incredibly musical bass work for Chick Corea, George Benson and Herbie Hancock. In addition to the four-ply multi-laminate body with quilted maple top and back, this intricately built fine bass features a three-piece maple neck with a 26-fret ebony fingerboard that extends the tonal range. Two Yamaha BB Double coil pickups and an active Preamp with 3-band EQ also elicit multi-faceted bass tones with articulation that responds delicately to playing technique. Last but not least, Yamaha completes the TRBJP2 John Patitucci Signature Bass with indestructible Hardware in the form of a solid brass bridge and tuning stable Gotoh tuners.

The six-bolt neck of the Patitucci Signature Bass can be played up to the highest registers thanks to its rounded neck base and flat profile.

Elaborately built six-stringer

When building the TRBJP2 Signature Bass, Yamaha's Luthiers not only emphasize a dignified look, but also excellent playing characteristics and a finely presented sound. In addition to the intricately built multi-laminate body, which sandwiches an ash and alder centrepiece between a cloud maple top and back, Yamaha relies on an extra-long 35" scale length (889 mm) for tight response to each string. The three-piece maple neck's flat D-profile with an official 56mm nut width and full string spacing provide excellent conditions for implementing virtuoso grooves and solo lines on the ebony fingerboard, which offers an extended tonal range with 26 frets. While the rounded neck base makes reaching the high registers a breeze, the large-scale slap cut on the lower part of the body supports slap-playing techniques.

For the electrical sound conversion of the TRBJP2 John Patitucci chooses two Yamaha BB double-coil pickups. Equipped with Alnico V magnets and coils in side-by-side arrangement, the Bass pickups impress with a low-noise, particularly finely articulated sound character that not only captures every nuance in playing technique in detail, but also presents complex chords precisely and harmonically. While the blend control mixes the signals of both pickups continuously to achieve multifaceted sound nuances, the active preamp with musically tuned 3-band tone control allows the precise adjustment of the bass sound in the character-shaping frequency ranges.

High-quality hardware

High-quality hardware features, whose dignified gold finish emphasizes the timelessly elegant look of the 6-string E-Bass, complete the Yamaha John Patitucci TRBJP2 Amber. The all-brass Yamaha 6-saddle bridge on the body not only ensures accurate intonation adjustment and comfortable string action, but also supports the bass's rich-sounding Sustain. At the headstock, Gotoh GB72 tuners with pearloid wings and Yamaha logo also keep the electric bass guitar securely in the correct tuning.
