The Yamaha YDP-166 is the high-performance classic console model in the new ARIUS series and is aimed at pianists seeking an authentic playing feel, an expressive grand piano sound and a design suitable for the home. At its heart is the GrandTouch-E keyboard with synthetic ebony and ivory key surfaces and escapement. This allows the instrument to respond sensitively to nuances in touch, delivering a playing feel that closely mirrors that of an acoustic upright or grand piano.

In terms of sound, the YDP-166 features the carefully sampled sound of the Yamaha CFX concert grand piano. This grand piano sound offers a clear, balanced character from the deep bass right up to the brilliant treble. Thanks to VRM Lite, resonances are reproduced more naturally, making the playing feel more lively and organic. The 192-note polyphony ensures that even dense chords, pedal passages and classical repertoire are reproduced reliably.

For everyday use, the Yamaha YDP-166 offers numerous digital features that make practising and playing music more convenient. These include 10 tone colours, four reverb types, dual function, duo mode, metronome, transpose and tuning functions, as well as a built-in 2-track recorder. In addition, 50 classic preset songs and 303 lesson songs are available. The instrument can be connected wirelessly to compatible smart devices via Bluetooth Audio and Bluetooth MIDI. The Yamaha Smart Pianist app enables convenient operation, access to settings and additional practice functions.

The sound experience remains impressive even when playing with headphones: the Stereophonic Optimizer ensures a natural sense of space, whilst Intelligent Acoustic Control keeps the sound balanced even at low volumes.
