The Zoom SSH-6e is a stereo shotgun microphone capsule system specifically designed for detailed audio capture in a mid-side configuration. It combines a hyper-directional mid microphone with a bi-directional side microphone, enabling precise pickup of direct sound while allowing flexible control over ambient noise. Ideal for content creators, videographers, and sound engineers, the SSH-6e offers maximum flexibility in shaping the stereo image.

At the heart of the SSH-6e is the proven mid-side recording technology (M/S). The mid microphone records the sound directly in front of the microphone, while the side microphone with figure-of-eight characteristic captures a wide, spatial sound field. By adjusting the side level on the recorder, the stereo width of the recorded signal can be precisely controlled - from mono to wide-open panorama. If desired, recordings can be made in RAW format and the stereo width can be subsequently adjusted in the DAW using an MS decoder.
The center microphone works with a supercardioid polar pattern and achieves a maximum sound pressure level of 133 dB SPL, ideal for loud environments or focused voice recordings. The side microphone with figure-of-eight characteristic processes signals up to 119 dB SPL. This combination enables professional sound recording in which the sound direction is retained - even with a wide stereo field.

The SSH-6e is part of the new Zoom Capsule System 3.0, which provides a highly stable connection and extended functionality. In combination with recorders such as the Zoom H6essential or H5studio, which support the 32-bit float recording format, you can record audio signals with a wide dynamic range without clipping or distortion. Manual input level adjustment is no longer necessary.
With a size of 53.2 mm (W) × 138.6 mm (D) × 38.1 mm (H) and a weight of only 43 g, the SSH-6e is extremely compact and portable - perfect for mobile applications. A high-quality WSU-2 fur windscreen is included in the scope of delivery, which effectively minimizes wind noise and thus ensures clear outdoor recordings.
