The Gibson Hummingbird has grown into a true icon since its introduction in the 1960s. The name of this historic series of high-quality acoustic guitars comes from its distinctive pickguard, adorned with an ornate hummingbird motif. This is complemented by elaborate mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays on the fingerboard, as well as a variety of attractive finish options.
Thanks to its all-solid construction using carefully selected tonewoods, the Hummingbird delivers an expressive, well-balanced sound. It’s no surprise that legends of Country, Rock, and Folk — including Keith Richards, Sheryl Crow, and Lenny Kravitz — frequently reach for their Hummingbird.
On top of its signature tone, the Hummingbird offers exceptional playing comfort. Its short scale makes fretting easier, while the ergonomic neck and smooth rosewood fingerboard allow for effortless movement, supporting both fluid and virtuosic playing styles.
Naturally, the electro-acoustic models also feature only high-quality pickup systems. Gibson often equips them with L.R. Baggs pickups, renowned for their natural sound reproduction that captures the true character of an acoustic guitar without coloring the tone.
