The Blackstar Dept. 10 Dual Distortion is far more than just a dual distortion pedal. In addition to its first-class distortion character, thanks to the integrated ECC83 valve, this pedal from the Dept. 10 series offers extensive options for integration into existing setups and can even be used as a USB audio interface for recording purposes. To this end, Blackstar provides the Cab Rig DSP speaker simulator software, which features highly detailed impulse responses of the most popular guitar cabinets and microphones and operates with virtually zero latency.

Authentic valve sounds on two channels
The starting point for the first-class sounds of the Blackstar Dept. 10 Dual Distortion is clearly its iconic ECC83 double triode, which is used in most classic amplifier circuits and, thanks to the internal operating voltage of 200 volts, reproduces both the dynamic response and the ‘break-up’ of traditional valve amps with astonishing accuracy. The first channel of the Dual Distortion offers a choice of a clear clean boost or rich crunch sounds, whilst the second channel features a dynamic Overdrive 1 mode or the Overdrive 2 mode for additional saturation and creamy sustain.
Patented InfiniteShape feature
Naturally, the Blackstar Dept. 10 Dual Distortion features the innovative InfiniteShape feature (ISF), familiar from classic Blackstar circuits, which combines an enormous range of different amp characteristics. Controlled via a single knob, the ISF knob offers the full spectrum from distinctive US voicing with tight bass and solid treble right through to classic British sounds with warm and prominent mids.
Cab Rig Output
In addition to the traditional connections for guitar and amplifier, the Dual Distortion features an additional Cab Rig Out. This is specifically designed for recording purposes and offers three switchable Cab Rig presets. Using the additional Architect software and the pedal’s front-panel USB port, all three presets can be customised in great detail and with precision, and saved on the effects pedal for later use. The Cab Rig Out also features a headphone driver, meaning the output can easily be used as a headphone socket.
