The AMS Neve 1073 DPA is an analog microphone preamplifier based on the legendary Class A microphone preamplifier 1073. The 1073 DPA offers two of these legendary microphone preamps in a single 19-inch rack space, but without the additional EQ section, instead offering the pure, unadulterated 1073 sound. To create the characteristic 1073 sound, Marinair® transformers are used on both the input and output stages. The discrete Class A topology is maintained as with the original and is built using through-hole methods, including the assembly of the Marinair® transformers and the transistor-based amplifiers. Gain adjustments are precisely made on the 1073 DPA via a 5dB stepped rotary control, capable of delivering up to 80dB of gain. By combining multiple gain stages and using the output trim controlwith associated clip LEDs, the 1073DPA can be driven hard to produce the musical Drive and harmonic saturation for which the 1073 is famous. In addition, the device offers switchable 48 V phantom power per channel for connected microphones and phase inversion.
