DigiTech Whammy DT Harmonizer/DetunerWhat could have been an excellent product.. when I plugged it in I realised how much of it is useless in reality. One of the main reasons for buying it was the ability to drop tune to Eb for Guns n Roses / Green Day / SRV songs and it does this alright. So it saves me tuning one guitar down with the headache of intonation etc. I use it one step up, think of Running Wild by Airwolfe. Any more than one or two steps sounds artificial. I tried playing Amy McDonald's This is the life with the 4 up capo setting.. absolutely horrible. It sounds like a harmonizer.
The Whammy is fun for Rage against the machine and Audioslave (Like a stone). Add up a Whammy 5 and a Digitech drop it is value for money, but it doesn't live up to the expectation you have when you think of all that could be possible. Dry signal + octave up to sound like a 12 string? Nothing like a 12 string. All very digital/artificial. Disappointing. But keeping it as i said it is all together cheaper than a Whammy + Drop.
