The Tama CL30VS-SFG Superstar Classic Neo-Mod Seafoam Green is a three-piece drum kit made from maple. The drum shells are constructed from maple and fitted with high-quality shell hardware, such as the Star Mount, the Classic T-Badge and triple-flanged hoops. Thanks to their thin walls, the Tama Superstar Classic drums produce a warm and assertive sound which, thanks to the precise 45° shell bevel and the Tama Power Craft II heads, remains stable in tuning and well-balanced.
The Superstar Neo-Mod Kit is inspired by vintage styling and features a modern construction. The thin 100% maple shells consist of a 6-ply, 5 mm thick shell construction for the toms, floor toms and snare, and an 8-ply, 7 mm thick shell construction for the bass drum. This unique kit comprises a 20″ x 10″ bass drum, a 12″ x 7″ tom and a 14″ x 9″ floor tom with legs. The specialised bass drum, with a 20" diameter and 10" depth, delivers a clear attack, punch and power for a strong sound in a wide range of playing situations, as well as being easy to transport and set up.
The shells consist of eight plies, each 7 mm thick, for the bass drum, and six plies, each 5 mm thick, for the toms and snare. Only the finest maple is used – the classic choice in drum-making. Unlike the Tama Superstar Hyperdrive, the Superstar Classic shells feature classic shell sizes rather than shortened shells. This results in a resonant, deep fundamental character with plenty of power and presence, giving it a distinctive sound.
The fine 45° shell bevel, combined with Tama Power Craft II heads, guarantees a sensitive response and high dynamics. Visually, the Tama Superstar Classic shells are finished with a matt lacquer finish.
The tom-toms are mounted on the Tama Star Mount suspension system, which ensures unrestricted movement and full resonance. The suspension system is attached at four points on the top of the drum shell and features flexible wing nuts, ensuring ideal access during set-up and allowing for seamless adjustment of the drum shells. The rubber-padded Low Mass Lugs and the classic Tama T-Badge have been carried over from the original Superstar series and, even in this modern guise, remain a visual highlight with the retro charm of the Tama Superstar Classic drum kits. With its many professional features and high-quality drum shells, the Tama drum kit is unbeatable in its price range and a genuine alternative for professional drummers on a budget.
