With the Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5 RW 3-Tone Sunburst Satin Sandberg presents the signature E-bass of the Peter Maffay bassist, who has been playing the instruments of the Brunswick bass forge since 1993. Equipped with a swamp ash body, a bolt-on maple-mahogany neck and two Sandberg power humbuckers including active 3-band tone control, the five-string presents itself as a straightforward workhorse for fat grooves on stage and in the recording studio.

The Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5 features a six-piece bolt-on neck made of maple and mahogany.

Classically built five-string with high playing comfort

For his signature model, Ken Taylor worked with the bass builders at Sandberg to select classic woods. The body of the Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5 is made of ash, while hard maple and mahogany are used for the six-bolt neck. Combined with the rosewood fingerboard, 5-String delivers a balanced fundamental with fast response and even sustain, reproducing even the low B string with precise definition. Thanks to the wide neck in the "C" profile, every run and groove goes easily from the fingers.

With two split Sandberg power humbuckers and an active 3-band tone control, the Basic Ken Taylor 5 delivers versatile bass tones.

Fat sound with high variability

For the electric tone of the SANDBERG Basic Ken Taylor 5 RW 3-Tone Sunburst Satin, Peter Maffay's bassist chose two powerful Sandberg power humbuckers, which provide him with the perfect foundation for his virtuoso bass playing. With their powerful sound, smooth response and high assertiveness, the pickups present every note with precision and bring even the low B-string to the fore across all registers with rich punch and defined tonal culture. Thanks to the split switch, the humbuckers can also optionally be operated as single coils, so that particularly brilliant sounds are available. For further sound tuning, an active 3-band equalizer is also on board, whose musical tuning always provides harmonious tone characters even at extreme settings.

Ken Taylor

Born in London in 1952 as the son of Jamaican emigrants, Ken Taylor came into contact with music at an early age. First he played as a rhythm guitarist, before Jimi Hendrix discovered the still young rock music for himself. At almost the same time Ken Taylor picked up the electric bass for the first time, on which he developed his virtuoso and band-serving style through persistent practice. As a particularly reliable sideman, Ken Taylor was able to immortalize himself on recordings by John Mayall, Brian May, Bruce Springsteen and the Scorpions, among others. In 1993 Peter Maffay engaged Ken Taylor as a permanent member of the Peter Maffay Band, with whom he has since completed countless tours and recordings.
