Classically constructed four-stringer
For the construction of the California VM4, the bass builders from Braunschweig rely on tried-and-true ingredients, crafting the instrument's alder body and maple neck with a fretboard of the same wood. In combination with the six-fold bolting of the body, the traditional woods deliver a resonance-friendly basic sound that, with nimble Attack, provides the perfect foundation for groovy riffs and crisp slaps. Here, the comfortable C-profile of the neck ensures a soft playability of the entire bass guitar.
Versatile Sandberg pickups and active electronics
As pickup on the California VM4 Bass in-house Sandberg pickups are used, with which the Bass covers a wide sound spectrum. Thus, the Sandberg split coil positioned in the middle convinces thanks to fat pole pieces with a slightly compressed tone, whose powerful bass foundation and high transparency present every groove with noble articulation. In contrast, the Sandberg power humbucker at the bridge delivers an aggressive sound that makes every note played palpable in the pit of your stomach with dry punch. An active 2-band tone control is also available to further customize the sound.
