Halos from Behringer is the reissue of the popular digital resonator oscillator Rings from Mutable Instruments. The module includes the resonator section contained in MI Elements and focuses on the elaboration of resonances, which can be animated using minimal clicks, trigger pulses and granular noises and then edited with the parameters. The module can be set so that each note vibrates as a separate virtual string. This allows a new string to be struck while the previous notes are still in the decay phase. This independent polyphony with up to four voices makes it possible to play the "strings" of a chord one after the other (strumming playing technique). Apart from the color scheme and the knobs, HALOS corresponds exactly to the original MI Rings.
Three different vibration structures are simulated in Halos on the basis of physical modeling: - simulation of strings, membranes and tubes as used in the Elements Resonator section. (Modal Synthesis) - Simulation of strings that are connected to each other, causing neighboring strings to resonate (String Resonator) - Simulation of plucked and stringed instruments using several short delay lines and high feedback values.
