The Clarke Sweetone Tin Whistle is a flute made from a steel plate and belongs to the penny whistle family. Tin whistles are traditional small beak flutes with six tone holes. These instruments evolved from the flageolet in the late 18th century. Penny whistles have long been used in Irish folk music as well as in South African kwela.
