Dunlop SLS1033BK StrapLok Strap Retainers Dual Design (Black)I bought this locking system for a pretty heavy bass guitar (4.5kg) when my previous one (Loxx) had worn out on the upper bout. I like to jump and move around with my bass, and I suppose the load was too much for a tiny pin.
Good points:
+ When the strap is locked, it feels very solid and frictionless. The pin and the button are bigger and the locking mechanism is really well made, so I hope it will serve many years.
Bad points:
- The strap button does not adjust to the thickness of the strap. On my padded leather strap, one end was too thick, and i had to fight it really hard to put the locking washer on the button. At the same time, the other end of the strap was thinner, and assembled button was loose. I had to thicken that part of the strap with an improvised washer to make the button sit tight on it.
- And now, I really hope I don't need to readjust my strap length, because removing the strap button will be a major pain.
This design in my opinion is much worse than the Loxx strap button, which can be tightened or released with a key and will sit tight no matter how thick the strap is.
These straplocks keep your strap on its place, they obviously do not afect sound. are quite easy to install, even if you are just a beginner. , but if you remove the locks you can use them as regular strap buttons. the lock stays in place even after hundreds of uses (at least mine do)
Downsides: about workmanship i gave 4 because they did start to rust a bit after 4 years of use. they are a bit expensive
