With the 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Pelham Blue, Epiphone brings back a well-known classic in collaboration with Gibson, reviving the pure vintage spirit of the 60s. As an extension of the Les Paul Junior, the Les Paul Special first appeared in 1955 as a single-cut version and was characterized by two powerful yet dynamic P-90 pickups. In 1960, the Les Paul Special was released as a double-cut version and reworked with convenient features. Not only was access to high frets significantly improved by the double cutaway - the narrow slim taper neck profile and the second P-90 pickup in the neck position with a slightly different Output also enriched the playing feel and sound immensely.
Accordingly, the features of this new reissue model of the Les Paul Special are based entirely on its great role model from the 1960s: In classic style, the body and neck are made of solid mahogany, while the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard offers plenty of comfort to cleanly execute crisp licks or demanding leads - the narrow 60s slim taper neck profile provides additional modesty. The typical Les Paul Special sound is realized by the two Gibson Custom USAP-90 Soapbar pickups: The loosely wound pickups are characterized by a transparent sound that impresses with brilliant highs and crisp mids. The Historic Aluminum Wraparound Bridge and Epiphone Deluxe tuners keep the intonation and string action reliably stable, allowing the instrument to be used for a long time. The 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissue Pelham Blue also comes with a matching hardshell case for safe transportation!
