Based on the classic Les Paul Custom design, this 7-string electric guitar combines timeless elegance with performance and tonal characteristics tailored specifically for modern metal. Modern weight relief and the fast “SpeedTaper D” neck profile ensure excellent playability, while the active Fishman Fluence Custom Series Matt Heafy pickups deliver a wide range of classic and contemporary metal tones. High-quality hardware including a LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge with matching stopbar and Grover locking tuners rounds out this professional instrument.

In developing the Les Paul Custom Origins 7-String, Matt Heafy and Epiphone focused on blending the iconic “tuxedo” aesthetic with ergonomics suited to modern playing techniques. The weight-relieved mahogany body enhances comfort during long, high-energy performances, while the Axcess heel provides unrestricted access to the upper frets. The glued mahogany neck with its slim SpeedTaper D profile offers fast, comfortable playability, making even complex riffs and solos effortless across the 22-fret ebony fingerboard. The extended 25.5" (648 mm) scale length ensures tight response and clarity across all seven strings, even in low tunings.

The ceramic bridge pickup offers a modern active sound with high output, tight low end, and excellent definition even with heavy distortion and drop tunings while an alternative voicing provides a more organic, passive-style attack. The alnico neck pickup delivers a warm, articulate tone in its modern voicing, with a second, more dynamic voicing ideal for fluid lead playing. Both pickups also feature a single-coil mode, adding crisp, glassy tones to the sonic palette.
