Some of the most realistic, high-end drum sounds on the Fame Hybrid Pro XT were developed in collaboration with drumming legend Simon Phillips—renowned for his unmistakable style and global influence, including his iconic work with TOTO. Recorded at Simon Phillips’ personal studio in Los Angeles, these sounds reflect his decades of experience and exceptional ear for tone and detail.
The 32 GB sound module includes hundreds of Simon Phillips multi-layer samples, meticulously crafted from over 12,500 individual recordings. Each drum and cymbal sound was recorded across a wide range of dynamics using an elaborate multi-microphone setup, with several microphone distances to capture both presence and room ambiance. This process ensures maximum realism and allows the module to reproduce the depth and nuance of a true acoustic kit, optimized specifically for the Hybrid Pro XT in collaboration with Simon Phillips and the Fame development team.
The new Fame Hybrid Pro XT module represents a substantial upgrade over its predecessor, offering numerous enhancements that elevate both performance and suability. One of the most noticeable improvements it its robust construction, ensuring enhanced durability and long-term reliability – perfect for both touring and studio use. Control has also been optimized: instead of a single data controller, the new model features three rotary controllers, enabling faster, more intuitive navigation. An enlarged display significantly improves and menu clarity, while integrated app control deliverds a modern, user-friendly interface for seamless operation. Another major upgrade is the expanded 32 GB memory capacity, up from the previous 4 GB. In addition, the new design allows for quick removal of the SD card via a side slot, eliminating the need to open the unit – great for efficient simple management and on-the-go flexibility. Connectivity has also been dramatically improved. The module now features five additional inputs offering far more options for expanding your setup. In terms of audio output, six direct outs replace the previous four, allowing for more advanced routing and detailed audio control – ideal for live gigs and professional recording environments. As before, the XT module is available in two stylish finishes: matte and chrome.
The module is designed for ease of use, featuring a streamlined interface with five clearly structured menu categories: MIXERUNIT/PROGRAM/CHANNEL/SOUND/SPECIAL. Navigation is intuitive, thanks to a six-section display controlled via a rotary knob and three responsive push buttons. Each menu offers direct access to essential parameters, allowing precise customization of sounds, kits and routing. The LEVEL control adjusts the overall volume and can be optionally bypassed to affect only headphone output – ideal for personal monitoring without altering the main mix.
A major usability upgrade from the previous model is the replacement of a single data controller with three dedicated rotary encoders beneath the display. This setup enables individual parameter control without menu diving, making editing and real-time adjustments significantly faster and more efficient.
The Fame Hybrid Pro XT module features a unique open sound architecture—an ideal solution for drummers and producers who want to integrate custom samples into their setup. Using a standard SD card, conveniently accessible from the side of the module, users can easily import samples, loops, and entire songs simply by dragging and dropping files from a PC or Mac. These sounds are instantly available for use within the module. All key settings—including kits, sounds, presets, and trigger configurations—can be managed and organized on your computer. With the free software editor (compatible with both PC and Mac), you can quickly load kits with specific sounds and backing tracks, even aligning your kit list with your concert setlist for seamless, song-by-song performance. For advanced users, the software editor also enables the creation of multi-layered sounds with up to 127 velocity layers. This makes it easy to build rich, expressive samples from any WAV file—including studio recordings of your acoustic drum kit—and assign them to pads with precision.
The Fame Hybrid Pro XT comes equipped with a practical tablet mounting system, compatible with all standard tablet models. This thoughtful feature is especially valuable when paired with the Hybrid Pro Remote App, which allows users to control the module in real time via a USB connection—turning your tablet into a powerful control surface for live performance and sound design. The app is built around two core control levels—Mixer and Channels—that work together to provide fast, intuitive access to all essential sound parameters. On the Mixer level, you can independently control the volume and stereo balance of each channel, adjust the BPM of the metronome for your current drum kit, and launch backing tracks directly from the module. This level provides a clear overview of your mix and is perfect for on-the-fly adjustments during rehearsals or live shows. The Channels level offers more in-depth sound control. Each channel is assigned to a specific pad on the Hybrid Pro XT e-drum kit, such as snare, bass drum, toms, hi-hats, and cymbals. Additionally, five extra percussion channels are available and mapped to the rim zones of the four toms and the snare, giving you expanded sound layering capabilities. This section allows you to fine-tune parameters like gain, attack, and hold for each drum element, ensuring your sound is dialed in exactly how you want it. Together, these two levels give drummers complete control over their kit’s sound and performance, making it easy to tailor every element of the Hybrid Pro XT to individual preferences or gig requirements—all from an intuitive tablet interface.
Please note: The Hybrid Pro Remote App is currently available for iOS (iPad) only. An Android version is in development and will be released soon.
The
The Hybrid Pro XT features a range of exclusive new sounds, captured during an elaborate sampling session using a Yamaha Recording Custom drum kit at the Scherenmuseum in Solingen. To highlight the room’s exceptional acoustics, engineers used two pairs of stereo microphones in addition to overhead mics and a mono mic placed in front of the drum set. This advanced mic setup allowed for a highly detailed and natural recording environment. While an external reverb was applied to enhance the metal kit, all other sounds feature only the natural reverb of the recording space—preserving the authentic ambience and delivering a rich, lifelike drum sound for every style.
The available drum kits include:
Each kit in the Hybrid Pro XT includes two snare variants: a deep snare and a gong tom, offering greater tonal flexibility. The metal kit also features alternative kick drum sounds for added impact. In addition to the drum samples, new cymbal sounds have been integrated, based on recordings of a Sabian AAX Studio set, providing crisp, professional-quality articulation across all styles.
As a Fame Hybrid Pro XT customer, you now have access to exclusive, professionally recorded drum sounds from the MJ Part2 add-on package, available for download. Several add-on packages have been released for the Fame Hybrid Pro XT, each offering additional sounds and samples that are already available from the factory. These packages include authentic and modern cymbal and drum sounds, professionally recorded in a top-tier studio. To ensure exceptional sound quality, we used renowned microphones, preamps, and converters throughout the recording process, guaranteeing a premium listening experience. All samples are high-resolution multi-layer recordings with 44.1 kHz and 24-bit quality. For example, the hi-hat sounds consist of over 260 individual samples, providing an incredibly detailed and dynamic sound palette.
The recording process utilized the multi-mic technique, with six microphones used for each sample. For the cymbals, we recorded a variety of top-tier sets, including a Zildjian K Custom Dark, Meinl Pure Alloy, Sabian AAX, as well as Meinl Stacks and a full series of Meinl Byzance cymbals, ensuring a rich and diverse range of sounds for any style.
The Fame Hybrid Pro XT module features authentic, relaxing handpan sounds, complete with accompanying loops, all professionally recorded in a top-tier studio. These sounds offer up to ten velocity layers per sound, ensuring an extremely realistic playing experience with dynamic responsiveness. In post-production, six impressive kits were created to inspire creativity, offering a wealth of design options when combined with modern loops. The Handpan Add-On Package includes a total of 74 loops, featuring handpan patterns, shakers and drum sounds. It also offers a variety of basic drum beats and percussion patterns, each available in different versions and sound variations. Many of the loops are provided in three tempos: 80 bpm, 90 bpm, and 100 bpm, with a selection of beats also presented in the popular 6/4 time signature. The multi-layer approach means each instrument is recorded at different volume leves, allowing not only for dynamic volume changes but also for shifts in tone and frequency as beat intesity varies. Some of the Fame sounds feature up to 127 individual layers, capturing every nuance of the performance.
With the Fame Hybrid Pro XT sound module, playing backing tracks is effortless. Simply transfer your favourite playbacks, samples or loops in CD quality (stereo, 16-bit / 44.1 kHz) onto the SD card and assign them directly to a drum kit. Whether you're simulating full band accompaniment or triggering loops and backing tracks, all it takes is a tap on a pad to start, stop, or pause playback. Assigning these playback functions to any pad is quick and intuitive using the tablet app – making setup fast and performance-ready. This feature adds a professional edge to both solo performances and live gigs with a band, giving drummers dynamic control over their stage setup.
Whether you're practicing with precision or performing on stage, the integrated metronome in the Hybrind Pro XT is a powerful tool that raises the standard. You can store a customized metronome setup for each kit, including preferred time signatures, accents and click sounds, ensuring every performance is tailored to your needs.
Even More useful is the smart count-in feature, which allows the metronome to automatically turn off after one or two bars. This ensures a perfectly timed intro – without the click continuing your ears throughout the song.
In addition to its impressive multi-layer samples, the Fame Hybrid Pro XT stands out for another advanced feature that greatly enhances its ultra-realistic sound profile: the sound output varies subtly depending on velocity and playing dynamics. This fine-tuned response helps eliminate the notorious "machine gun" effect – a common issue in many electronic drum kits that causes repeated hits to sound unnaturally identical.
Instead, the Hybrid Pro XT delivers a remarkably natural playing experience, with studio-quality sounds that respond like real acoustic drums. When a pad is struck in rapid succession, the module triggers slightly different samples, each with its own nuanced sound character. This intelligent sample switching provides greater realism and expressive range.
For comparison, while the Fame DD-ONE XT is already an impressive instrument in its class, the Hybrid Pro XT takes sound depth even further—offering up to 100 more velocity layers per sound in certain cases. This significant increase in sampling detail sets the Hybrid Pro XT apart, delivering extraordinary tonal variation and dynamic response rarely found in its price range.
The cymbal pads of the Fame Hybrid Pro XT elevate the drumming experience with excellent response and a natural playing feel that delivers ideal rebound. The 12-inch ride pad, featuring three separate zones – bell, bow and rim – nenables nuanced, multi-dimensional sound design that rivals the expressiveness of acoustic cymbals. The 12 inch crash pads also offer premium, sudio quality sounds captured by our in-house development team, along with the flexibility to individually assign functions to each zone for complete creative control. Included are multi-layer cymbal sounds crafted from top-tier sets by Meinl, Sabian and Zildjian, ensuring a rich and diverse sonic palette suitable for any genre or playing style.
Beyond their exceptional sound quality, the Fame cymbal pads stand out for their quiet operation, making them perfect for home practice without disturbing others. Their durable and adjustable mounting system offers both stability and flexibility, allowing drummers to customize their cymbal positions easily to match personal setup preferences – whether for practice or performance.
The impressive 12-inch hi-hat pad of the Fame Hybrid Pro XT is mounted on the professional Fame HH-9000 stand, renowned for its outstanding stability and smooth pedal action. Made in Taiwan, the HH-9000 features three double-braced legs and large rubber feet, providing a solid, non-slip base on virtually any surface. The hi-hat height is adjustable between 78 and 100 cm, ensuring optimal ergonomics, while the infinitely adjustable spring tension allows players to fine-tune the pedal’s resistance to match their preferred playing feel.
Functionally, the Hybrid Pro XT hi-hat pad offers an impressively authentic acoustic-style experience. The pad opens and closes via foot control, with a built-in sensor accurately detecting the degree of pedal movement for a fluid, natural response. The pad itself features two playing zones—edge and surface— for expressive articulation, and the sound module delivers a range of multi-layer hi-hat samples designed to reproduce studio-quality acoustic sound in every playing context.
The Fame Hybrid Pro XT E-Drum Set stands out with its 12-inch stereo snare pad and 12-inch kick pad, offering a responsive, acoustic-like feel. A smart feature allows you to connect an additional pad or trigger to the snare when the rim zone is not in use—offering enhanced flexibility for customized setups. One of the Hybrid Pro XT’s key advantages is its cross-brand compatibility with pads from other leading manufacturers such as Roland, Yamaha, and 2Box, greatly expanding its potential in hybrid or modular configurations. The set includes four 10-inch tom pads, sized to match standard acoustic drums, ensuring a natural playing position without the need to relearn stick movement or adjust your playing posture. All pads are equipped with high-quality Fame mesh heads, delivering near-silent performance—ideal for home practice—and offering adjustable tension via a standard drum key. This lets drummers fine-tune rebound and feel to suit their individual playing style.
A further improvement over its predecessor is the ability to connect an additional mono pad or trigger to each of the four toms via a Y-cable, disabling the rim channel in the process. This upgrade gives drummers even more flexibility in expanding their kit without compromising core functionality.
The Fame Hybrid Pro XT E-Drum Set provides two practical options for mounting the snare pad. The first allows you to attach the snare directly to the rack using the included pad holder, offering a compact and convenient setup that saves space—ideal for home studios or tight practice environments. However, for drummers who want to maximize the snare pad's performance, it is strongly recommended to use the included Fame SDS8000 snare stand. This stand offers superior stability, particularly for energetic playing styles, where heavy strikes may cause the rack-mounted pad to shift or come loose.
Using the Fame SDS8000 snare stand significantly enhances the sensitivity and realistic response of the snare. By decoupling the pad from rack vibrations, the stand ensures that the pad operates at its full potential, delivering optimal triggering accuracy and a more authentic acoustic feel.
