The Fender American Vintage II 1961 Stratocaster RW Surf Green at a glance
As a faithful reproduction of the iconic ’61 Strat, the American Vintage II 1961 Stratocaster RW Surf Green offers both the sound and the feel of the early sixties. Built in Corona, California, as part of the reissued American Vintage II series, this electric guitar draws on historical dimensions, traditional components and classic colour schemes to replicate the originals from the 1960s as closely as possible. Furthermore, Fender includes a vintage-style deluxe hardshell case with every instrument in the American Vintage II series.
1961 C Maple Neck & Slab Rosewood Fretboard
The neck construction of the Fender American Vintage II 1961 Stratocaster RW reflects the ‘Slab’ design introduced in the late 1950s, in which the maple neck is crafted with a slim Cprofile without a skunk stripe and finished with a flat rosewood fingerboard. The traditional fingerboard radius of 7.25 inches ensures an authentic playing feel across all 21 frets in the vintage tall format, whilst genuine clay dot fretboard inlays ensure the authentic look of the Fender American Vintage II 1961 Stratocaster.
Fender Pure Vintage '61 Single Coils
To remain true to the sound of the era, three Fender Pure Vintage ’61 Single Coils —wound specifically for this series—deliver the Stratocaster’s rich and varied tonal palette. These three single-coil pickups, wound to traditional specifications, deliver everything from clear and direct bridge sounds to warm, vocal tones in the neck position, whilst positions 2 and 4 of the blade switch produce shimmering pickup combinations. Naturally, the wiring remains classic too, comprising a shared volume controland separate tone controls for the neck and middle pickups.
Authentic Pure Vintage Parts
Also part of the historically inspired Fender Pure Vintage line-up are the hardware components of the Fender American Vintage II 1961 Stratocaster. Accordingly, the six-screw Pure Vintage Synchronised Tremolo follows the famous, successful design of the 1950s, whilst the six ‘Fender Deluxe’ tuners correspond to the construction of original tuning machines from the 1960s. The Fender American Vintage II 1961 Stratocaster RW Surf Green is finished with a three-ply pickguard and a tasteful nitrocellulose finish.
