The Gibson ES-355 Walnut Maestro VOS Varitone Antique Walnut is the Gibson Memphis Facility's flagship semi-hollow electric guitar, offering traditional construction, versatile sounds and sophisticated custom appointments. The body is made of the traditional maple laminate and provided with a center block, while the neck is made of mahogany and carries a rosewood fingerboard. Two Gibson MHS humbuckers in combination with the MTC circuitry provide the VariTone switch with multi-faceted vintage sounds between blues, rock and fusion. Last but not least, the Gibson ES-355 Walnut Maestro features the eponymous Maestro Vintage Vibrato, a Tune-O-Matic bridge and Kluson Waffle Back Tuner.

Gibson ES-355 in classic design

For the construction of the Gibson ES-355 Walnut Maestro, the Gibson Memphis Facility uses traditional construction methods. Accordingly, the body is made of three-layered maple-poplar laminate, with the maple centre block preventing unwanted feedback. The glued mahogany neck lies comfortably in the hand thanks to the "Rounded C" profile, so that on the rosewood fingerboard with block inlays every note goes out of hand as if by itself.

MHS Humbucker with VariTone switch

The sound conversion of the Gibson ES-355 Maestro is done by two Gibson MHS humbuckers, authentic PAF replicas that capture the sound of the semi-acoustic construction and deliver a warm vintage sound on the amplifier. The six-stage VariTone switch, which acts as a notch filter to suppress certain frequency ranges, ensures a high variability of sound. In addition, the hand-wired Memphis Tone Control (MTC) circuitry is available with Orange Drop capacitors and individual volume and tone controls.

Vintage Hardware with Maestro Vibrato

Last but not least, the Gibson ES-355 Walnut Maestro 2018 VOS is equipped with high-quality hardware in authentic vintage style. The tailpiece is the eponymous Maestro vibrato, which can be used to create dazzling pitch modulations. From here the strings are guided over the proven ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and countered at the headstock by precise Kluson Waffle Back tuners.
