The Gibson Firebird Custom Ebony, part of the prestigious Gibson Custom Shop Collection, fuses Rex Dietrich's iconic Firebird design with the elegant Tuxedo aesthetic of the legendary Black Beauty Les Paul Custom. Finished in deep black nitrocellulose lacquer, this electric guitar exudes sophistication. Multi-ply body binding, gold-plated hardware and mother-of-pearl inlays in the ebony fingerboard ensures exceptional playing comfort and a rich, resonant tone. Gibson 490R and 498T humbuckers promise powerful clean and overdrive tones when amplified. From blues to rock to heavy metal – the guitar suits every setting. Last but not least, a classic Tune-O-Matic bridge with matching Stopbar tailpiece and tuning stable Grover Rotomatic tuners complete the Gibson Firebird Custom.

The Gibson Firebird Custom Ebony electric guitar combines the successful Sixties design of the legendary car designer Ray Dietrich with the elegant "Tuxedo Look" of the Les Paul Custom.

A belly cut on the back of the body and the mahogany neck in "Medium C" profile promise comfortable handling of the Firebird Custom.

For the construction of the Firebird Custom, the expert luthiers at the Gibson Custom Shop rely on time-tested craftsmanship and premium tonewoods to deliver both powerful sound and outstanding playability. The mahogany neck is set into the mahogany body using the desirable Long Neck Tenon joint, ensuring optimal resonance and sustain. Topping it off is a luxurious ebony fingerboard, adorned with large block inlays made from genuine mother-of-pearl. The comfortably shaped "Medium C" neck profile and 42.9 mm nut width make the Firebird Custom a joy to play – supporting both classic techniques and modern playing styles with ease.

With Gibson 490R and 498T humbuckers, the Firebird Custom delivers versatile sounds for blues, rock and classic heavy metal.

Gibson 490R and 498T Humbucker

Equipped with a Gibson 490R humbucker in neck position and a corresponding Gibson 498T humbucker at the bridge, the Firebird Custom features two of the most renowned pickups in the Gibson lineup. The 490R offers a modernized take on the classic PAF tone, delivering a particuarly warm and rounded sound, while the 498T brings a hotter output with its midrange-focused Alnico character – ideal for rich overdrive tones and punchy leads. Toghether, they make the Firebird Custom a true all-rounder for players who appreciate blues, classic rock and even metal tones, all while staying true to Gibson's sonic heritage. A hand-wired circuit featuring a robust Switchcraft toggle switch for pickup selection and separate volume and tone pots from CTS for each pickup also grants full control over the guitar sound.

Grover Rotomatic tuners in 6-in-line arrangement promise accurate and stable tuning of the electric guitar.
