Kali Audio presents the IN-8 2nd Wave White, the second generation of its successful 3-way, 8-inch nearfield monitor. It features a coaxial midrange and tweeter along with a sophisticated bass reflex system. Based on the acclaimed LP-8, the speaker uses the same high-performance woofer for powerful bass reproduction. However, instead of the usual tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides, it employs a coaxial 4-inch midrange and tweeter combination.
The profile-optimized midrange driver also serves as a waveguide, which helps to avoid intermodulation distortion by limiting the peak excursion to 1 mm. This common problem with coaxial systems is thus avoided, resulting in a more harmonious and distortion-free overall picture.
The crossover frequency remains at 330 Hz, making the Kali Audio IN-8 2nd Wave an acoustic point source without phase cancellations on the vertical axis. The result is a consistent dispersion pattern across the entire frequency range, providing excellent depth and precise localization.
The stereo image also benefits from the coaxial design, allowing for a highly detailed mix. A Boundary EQ, known from the LP series, is included as well, enabling easy adaptation of the monitor to different studio environments, just like its sister models. A new setting also allows operation in a horizontal position.
