Active 3-way studio monitor with coaxial point source
The Palmer ORBIT 11 is a high-precision active 3-way studio monitor for professional applications such as mixing, mastering, post-production, broadcasting, sound design and content creation. Thanks to its coaxial true point source design, it delivers particularly robust stereo imaging and precise output across the entire listening area.
At the center is a coaxial speaker architecture with 6.5" mid range driver and 1" tweeter working on a common acoustic axis. This design ensures coherent sound dispersion and a constant directivity of 120° × 120°, significantly extending the sweet spot.
With 1000 watts of Class-D amplifier power, an extended frequency range down to 28 Hz and modern DSP processing, the ORBIT 11 delivers the precision and dynamics that professional studios require.
The coaxial design of the ORBIT 11 enables a particularly temporally coherent reproduction. The common axis of the tweeter and midrange driver creates a robust and precise sound image with uniform directivity.
The result is a reliable representation of panorama, depth and balance - crucial for mixing and mastering decisions.
The monitor uses two pulse-compensated 8" woofers for the bass range. This design reduces mechanical vibrations and ensures particularly precise bass reproduction without unwanted resonances.
The robust die-cast aluminium housing with wall thicknesses of up to 16 mm also minimizes housing vibrations and enables impressively deep bass reproduction down to 28 Hz.
Cardioid design for controlled dispersion
The specially developed front baffle creates a cardioid polar pattern in the low frequency range. This reduces rear sound energy, which minimizes disturbing room reflections and improves precision in the listening area.
Linear
The internal signal processing uses FIR filters with 96 kHz / 24-bit DSP to ensure linear phasing and optimum timing of all drivers. This results in a particularly clear and coherent sound image.
Optimized low-end for better room coupling
The specially developed low-end design improves the speaker's wall coupling and reduces unwanted cancellations in the bass range. As a result, the bass sound remains precise and controlled even in real studio environments.
The ORBIT 11 offers flexible integration options for modern studios. In addition to a balanced XLR line input, AES3 digital audio is also available via XLR.
The AES3 Thru output makes it easy to connect multiple speakers in daisy-chain mode.
The control panel on the top provides quick access to important settings such as 3-band EQ, input pad, table or wall presets and an 80 Hz high-pass filter.
For installations, the monitor offers threaded points and M8 eyelets and is compatible with the Gravity GSPWMBS30B wall mount, making ceiling or wall mounting easy, the Gravity mount is available here.
Coaxial studio monitors are considered to be particularly precise because the high and mid range drivers radiate from the same acoustic source. This results in fewer phase problems and a more stable stereo image. During mixing and mastering sessions in particular, this design helps to assess panorama, transients and depth gradation much more reliably.
