The Sambajon by Pearl is a fiberglass cajon, which has two very different playing surfaces and thus a broad sound spectrum. With these characteristics, the Sambajon pushes the separation of bass and snare sound to the top and thus provides the player with a wide range of applications.
Material and construction
The Sambajon body is made of fibreglass, a material with excellent sound characteristics. A fiberglass body produces very powerful basses, on the Pearl Sambajon additionally supported by the bass port located opposite the bass side.
The first playing surface presents itself as a traditional hardwood playing surface and delivers the familiar Cajon sounds. The second, side-mounted "bass side" is covered with fabric and is less intended for playing with the hands than for using Cajon pedals. The use of a pedal tickles unimagined deep and powerful frequencies from the sambajon, which are reminiscent of the sound of Brazilian Surdos or the legendary "808" sound.
