The PIRASTRO Tonica 4/4 Alu BTL string set for violin in 4/4 size has long been considered one of the most popular sets for beginners and advanced players on the violin. The medium gauge nylon string set consists of an A-string wound with aluminum and a silver wound D and G-string, while the E-string is made of steel and is also wound with aluminum. The tonal result is an open and warm character with an amazingly easy response and round tone.

I use 3 or 4 different fiddles for my teaching/playing, and although I would love to use something like Evah Perazzi or Obligato I just cant justify the difference in price. These strings work really well on both a very old 1700'S fiddle right through to my bridge electric. Really warm tone with plenty power low down. Stay in tune well. I don't always use the Tonica e string as I normally use pirastro number one, which is a great sweet e , loads of power too. I recommend them to all my students.
