The Snareweight M80 damper is attached to the hoop with a magnet and then lies gently on the snare head. The sound gets a bit deeper, the overtones are damped and a crisp attack with little sustain is created. In addition, half of the leather pad can be folded away to individually adjust the degree of snare damping. The magnet fits on all hoops.
The sound can be modified by the different positions of the leather strap, comparable to a treble button on a guitar amplifier. Instead of changing the drumhead directly, you can simply use the Snareweight M80 mute to create the desired sound in a few moments.
Another advantage of the snareweight mufflers is that they increase the weight of the head, which means that the mid and low frequencies of the snare drum sound softer and rounder. This effect cannot be caused by anything else and it improves the sound noticeably. The unwanted high buzzing of the drum is absorbed by the leather padding.
