The Redshift 6 from Supercritical Synthesizers is a polyphonic analog synthesizer with an extremely variable character. The absolutely futuristic-looking synthesizer is particularly impressive due to two aspects that give it a unique selling point on the market. Firstly, there is the analog signal path, which is essentially based on the earlier products Demon Core Oscillatorthe Neutron Flux Filter and one VCA per voice. The second aspect relates to the voice architecture of the Redshift 6. As the name suggests, the synth is 6-voice polyphonic, but also 6-part multitimbral. The individual voices can be chained in different ways, including 6x monophonic, 6-voice polyphonic, 2x 3 voices or 3x 2 voices. Furthermore, the parts can be combined in such a way that the oscillator of part 1 is processed in parallel with the filters of parts 1 and 2. Operation is as simple as possible and benefits from direct access via the function buttons and the d
Each of the six voices or parts is based around a Demon Core Oscillator and a Neutron Flux Filter. The oscillator can handle traditional waveforms with 1–2 voices, but also excels in advanced applications – such as supersaw, flanged phase sync, or transistor organ-style sounds – with up to 16-voice paraphony per part. The analog Neutron Flux Filter is a fully variable state-variable filter that smoothly morphs between low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass modes, with selectable slopes from 6 to 24 dB (1 to 4 poles). It also includes a continuously blendable filter character control with modes like fat, mean, sour, liquid, and crisp. The Drive feature is much more than a simple gain boost – it dynamically alters gain staging depending on the filter type and character, allowing for deeply textured tones. The final stage of the analog path is a standard but essential VCA, providing amplitude control. On the modulation side, the Redshift 6 offers a complete toolkit: three envelopes, four LFOs, a robust modulation matrix, and several handy shortcuts, allowing nearly every parameter to be animated and controlled. An arpeggiator and step sequencer are also built in, so you can compose and perform entirely within the synth. And crucially, everything is available six times over – one for each part—opening up vast creative possibilities.
