With the Tama BE52ZBAS-GAC Starclassic Bubinga Shell Set Gloss African Cherry, one of the most influential drum sets in modern drum history returns in 2026. When it was introduced in 2006, the Starclassic Bubinga set new standards and broke through the maple-or-birch dominance of the time with an uncompromisingly powerful, dark sound. Made from rare African Bubinga, the shell delivers a massive low-end, enormous projection and a characteristically rich fundamental tone that is still appreciated by top international drummers today. The Revival version is consistently based on the last stage of development before the series was discontinued in 2018: 9-ply, 6 mm thick shells, deeper tom sizes to emphasise the bass frequencies and a Bass Drum without tom holder for maximum resonance. Visually, the Gloss African Cherry outer layer in combination with Black Nickel Hardware underlines the exclusive claim of this set.
