6-channel desktop mixer for studio, live and Eurorack

With the AREA.6 the British high-end mixer manufacturer Union Audio has created a masterpiece of a performance mixer. With its features, the compact desktop mixer is aimed equally at synthesiser live acts and Eurorack users who value a sophisticated analogue sound. The 6-channel mixer is perfect for quick sound changes thanks to its performance-ready intervention options, which can be attributed to its simple operation and features such as tilt EQ, summing compressor, stereo filter and control voltage inputs.

Each channel has connections for mono or stereo signals, an aux send control that routes the signal to one of the two effects paths, a pre-listen/mute button, a tilt EQ that forms a mixture of lowpass and highpass filters, volume control and filter on/off button. The Eurorack-compatible control voltage inputs for all six channels for the Level, Aux and Pan parameters are located on the far left of the panel.

For effective sound processing, the mixer offers a resonant stereo filter with lowpass or highpass mode and an upstream distortion for more analogue crunch. The filter can be assigned to each channel individually. A stereo compressor provides the necessary pressure on the sum. This manages with just three parameters and is also equipped with a sidechain input. If, for example, a second kick drum is fed into the sidechain, the sum signal can be rhythmically compressed.

The master section is equipped with controls for main level and headphones, an LED level indicator and the stereo main insert. With the exception of the balanced XLR outputs on the rear, all connections are equipped with 3.5mm mono or stereo sockets. In the Eurorack modular system the mixer has a footprint of 52 HP with an installation depth of approx. 55 mm.
