Union Audio was founded in 2014 by Andy Rigby-Jones, the renowned DJ mixer designer whose innovative work has shaped the modern DJ booth for over a quarter of a century. His concept of what a DJ mixer could be led to the creation of the Allen & Heath Xone series in the late 1990s with the Xone:62, the Xone:92 and the esoteric Xone:V6. The Xone:62 uniquely pioneered the asymmetric EQ (+6dB/-26dB), now the adopted standard for professional DJ mixers. His groundbreaking designs also featured advanced audio filtering and the early adoption of midi functionality, establishing his inventive philosophy for intelligent design and warm analogue sound.

From its early inception, Union Audio has collaborated with leading names in the DJ industry, most notably co-designing the PLAY differently Model 1 with techno legend Richie Hawtin, as well as designing and manufacturing the MasterSounds range of mixers, and collaborating on a mixer project with TPI, the company founded by Tim Issac, one of the originators of Turbosound.
Union Audio soon outgrew its first home in Andy’s garden shed, forcing several moves until in 2023 the company relocated to a modern production facility in one of Cornwall’s premier business parks, which now serves as UA HQ.
In 2022, Union Audio launched the first own-branded product, the flagship orbit.6, a six-channel rack-mounted analogue rotary mixer with per-channel valve stages and a fully discrete signal path, offering exceptional audio clarity and build quality. This was followed in 2023 by the compact four-channel elara.4, praised for its compact dimensions, quality, and creative features such as the master isolator with variable frequency crossover.
In 2024, Union Audio launched the Valve-Series and the Orbit LE range. The Valve-Series appealing to professionals and audiophiles alike who value modern engineering and the unique sound that only valves (tubes) can deliver, and the high-performance orbit range with optional on-board DSP effects, at home in any DJ setup from the home producer to club installation, from digital to vinyl, and offering unrivalled value for money.
2024 also saw the company fully embrace its new brand identity, with key staffing appointments complimenting the already capable group of engineers and operatives, trained by Andy over the preceding years. Late in 2024, the Elara 6 was unveiled to great acclaim, once again following Andy’s inventive design philosophy, this no compromise mixer was created to fulfil high-end club installation needs, offering unrivalled audio fidelity in a familiar layout, and serving as an integral mix tool for the professional DJ and live producer alike. In particular, the analogue processing strips take sound manipulation to another level, providing a truly unique way to mix and sculpt the audio landscape.
Building on previous success, 2025 started with the release of two new products, the LE FX, an affordable 8 function DSP effects unit, and the revised Elara 4 MK2, now offering high quality phono inputs on all channels, a revised Isolator frequency response, a Mic input, and featuring the same smooth 45mm faders developed for use on the flagship Elara 6.
Today, Union Audio has secured its place as one of the most respected brands in the boutique audiophile DJ and professional DJ community alike, offering solid engineering with an emphasis on high audio fidelity, robust build quality, value for money and unrivalled customer service.
