Version 2.0 of the Waldorf PPG 3.V revives the unmistakable character of the legendary PPG Wave synthesizers - combined with contemporary flexibility. The detailed emulation of the PPG Wave 2.2 and 2.3 provides authentic timbres, while the True PPG engine accurately recreates the characteristic graininess and aliasing artifacts of this era. At the same time, the software opens up new creative possibilities that go far beyond the original hardware.
One of the biggest innovations is the comprehensive support for user wavetables. You can not only import and export your own waveforms, but also edit them directly in the plug-in - including free drawing with the mouse or random generation based on the factory waves. This allows you to create individual soundscapes that add a modern twist to the classic PPG sound.
With the new Mutator parameter, presets can be varied step by step and mutated in five categories - from waveform to modulation. This opens up a wide range of sound experiments that always remain musical. This is complemented by the 8-fold multimode, which can be used to create complex layers, splits or multisamples. Up to 256 voices per instance and eight stereo outputs also make the PPG 3.V 2.0 a versatile tool in the professional production environment.
In addition to authentic filters and emulations of the original devices, the software offers an extensive effects section. From phaser,
Version 2.0 contains both the classic factory sounds of the PPG Wave series and the legendary Waveterm B sample library. Furthermore, over 100 new wavetables by Wolfgang Palm have been integrated, bringing the iconic sound into the present.
The Waldorf PPG 3.V 2.0 can be run as a VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plugin under Windows and macOS and supports both Intel and Apple Silicon processors. Thanks to host and MIDI controller automation, almost any parameter can be directly integrated into modern production workflows.
