With the Yamaha SG1802 Black, the renowned Japanese instrument maker revives a true classic among solidbody guitars. Originally introduced nearly fifty years ago in 1974, the series has been redesigned in collaboration with Yamaha teams in Tokyo, London, and Berlin to meet the modern demands of today’s guitarists. The result is a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary features, including the classic mahogany/maple tonewood combination, premium Seymour Duncan USA pickups, and high-end hardware from TonePros, Graph Tech, and Grover. A hardshell case is included.

Classic tonewoods for body and neck

The Yamaha SG1802’s body and neck construction follows a time-tested formula for a solid tonal foundation. A robust African mahogany body topped with solid maple provides powerful resonance, while dual cutaways ensure unrestricted access to the upper frets. The 3-piece mahogany neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard offers a tactile and responsive surface for the picking hand. Its flat 13.75" radius combined with medium-jumbo frets makes intricate layering, fast runs, and expressive bends effortless.
