Novation develops electronic musical instruments and controllers designed to support music creators in production, performance and creative sound design. Since the introduction of the Bass Station in 1993, the British brand has helped shape electronic music with synthesizers, grooveboxes and MIDI solutions.
Today, the range includes Launch controllers, Circuit grooveboxes, MIDI keyboards and synthesizers such as Peak and Summit. Novation is therefore aimed at producers, live performers and electronic musicians who want to combine intuitive operation, flexible integration and distinctive sound concepts. With the Bass Station, Novation introduced a compact analogue synthesizer in 1993 that remains closely associated with the brand. In the following years, further influential instruments appeared, including the Drum Station, Supernova and the virtual-analogue Nova Series. These synthesizers combined versatile digital sound generation with a direct control interface and became popular tools for electronic music production and live performance.
From the early 2000s onwards, Novation expanded its range with MIDI keyboards, controllers and dedicated control solutions for music software. A particular focus lies on the Launch controllers, which provide direct control over clips, instruments, effects and mixer functions and were developed especially for use with Ableton Live.
Depending on the model, the controllers offer velocity-sensitive pads, faders, rotary controls, transport functions and flexible assignment options. This makes them suitable for studio production, live sets, beatmaking and mobile music setups.
With the Circuit Series, Novation combines sequencing, synthesis and sample-based sound generation in compact grooveboxes. The instruments allow beats, melodies and arrangements to be developed quickly and can be used both as standalone devices and in combination with other MIDI equipment.
The clear pad matrix and direct workflow make the Circuit models particularly suitable for spontaneous ideas, live jams and computer-free music production.
With Peak and Summit, Novation offers powerful polyphonic synthesizers for extensive sound design. The instruments combine digital oscillators with analogue filters, versatile modulation options and a clearly structured control interface.
While Peak is designed as a compact desktop synthesizer, Summit expands the concept into a comprehensive keyboard instrument for studio and stage. Both models are aimed at musicians, producers and sound designers who want to create complex pads, powerful basses, expressive leads and experimental sound structures.
Novation combines synthesizers, grooveboxes and controllers in a versatile range for modern music production. The products are suitable for beginners as well as experienced producers and live performers and can be integrated flexibly into DAW-based, hardware-focused and hybrid setups.
