The Outbox 8 is the perfect addition for anyone wishing to integrate their Overbridge-compatible Elektron gear into a larger analogue setup. The breakout box offers 8 outputs (DC-coupled) with balanced 6.3mm jack connectors, which are freely configurable. The 32-bit D/A converters operate at 48 kHz and are completely latency-free. You can connect one Outbox 8 to each Elektron device – such as the Digitakt II, Digitone II, Syntakt or Tonverk – and configure it to suit your needs via the system menu.
The outputs are essentially to be regarded as supplementary to the devices’ onboard outputs and can be configured as mono outputs, stereo outputs (in pairs) or as control voltage. For example, you can send the kick, hi-hat and bassline individually as mono tracks to the mixing desk, whilst the clap passes through a reverb pedal as well; the remaining four outputs can be configured as two CV/Gate channels to sequence two independent voices within the Eurorack modular system. If you use one or more outputs as control voltage, you have the options: Pitch V/Oct, Pitch Hz/V, Value linear, Trig, Gate and Clock. The voltage range covers +/- 5V. On top of that, Outbox 8 can be used as a USB audio interface with a smartphone or computer in conjunction with a DAW.
