Legendary 1959 Les Paul sound with authentic aging

As a tribute to the legendary 1959 version of the Les Paul, the Gibson Custom Shop has teamed up with the aging specialists at the Murphy Lab to offer an extremely successful recreation of the original. From the turned wood selection to the hand-wired electronics to the finish and hardware, the Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard Dirty Lemon Burst Light Aged electric guitar really does offer everything that makes a classic '59 Les Paul.

Flamed maple top and mahogany neck with long neck foot

The Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard Dirty Lemon Burst Light Aged is based on a basic construction made from selected tonewoods that were used in the late 1950s. Accordingly, the body is made from a solid piece of mahogany and is finished with a two-piece curly maple top with a chic flame. Of course, the long neck tenon of the mahogany neck, which is glued right up to the neck pickup, should not be missing in the recipe for a good Fifties Les Paul.

Gibson Custom Bucker with Paper-in-Oil Caps

For appropriate sounds of the legendary PAF humbucker, Gibson relies on successful replicas of the coveted double coilers with two Custom Bucker humbuckers. The pickups, which are hand-wound in the Gibson Custom Shop, are fitted with Alnico III magnets for a warm and vocal sound character and have non-waxed coils, which means that the treble content in the signal is clearly retained. The electronics wiring is also completely hand-wired and features original components from the golden LP era with CTS potentiometers for volume and tone and oil paper capacitors.

Murphy Lab Light Aged Treatment

The Murphy Lab, founded by aging legend Tom Murphy, consists of a number of experts who analyse the finish and the aging process of the hardware of original instruments in detail and recreate them authentically as part of the 1959 Les Paul Standard Dirty Lemon Burst Light Aged. The Light Aged treatment represents a slight ageing process and simulates the natural signs of wear and tear of an instrument that has been played for a long time but is well cared for. The composition of the nitrocellulose lacquer has also been taken into account, so that the instrument develops a flavourful aging process over time.
