I have a GT-6 and im seriously thinking about changing to this baby. Ive tested one at a store and think it gives a good combination of the tradional guitar amps and sounds with the new and futuristic sounds. It has a very wide range of music use, since metal to pop. All this with the quality Boss usually offers in its products.
I bought lots of pedals over the years but God, I hate tap dancing while playing. I then build a full rack and it weights like hell. I then bought the Axe FX 2 and that completely changed my life! But it is so expensive that I prefer not travel it around.
And then came along a GT-100. I friend brought one at my place and I found it sounded great! He played directly to my PA system and I was really impressed by the quality for that price! He left it to my place and I gave it a try on my Marshall JCM900 with the 4 cable method. Amazing! My dry signal is almost not affected and I use my clean and crunch from my amp and for lead, well, just deactivate the Send/Return FX on the GT-100 and you can tweak the embedded amp sounds awesome for such a small pedal.
The ease of use is also great. Via a USB cable and Boss' software it is so easy to tweak it.
I bought one and I now can easily take my amp and GT-100 when I'm on the move and with one simple tap just change all the FX and the channel of my amp.
One small thing though, the LOOP pedal should have been a normal one (like the 4 first ones).
Let's say, it is a life changer! Great sound, great possibilities, on holiday with a headphone and for that price? Thanks Boss. Really, thank you!
I have to say I love his board, I've been through several multi effects and was recently building up an all analogue pedal board myself with some nice TRex and Keeley pedals in there.
I was inspired after watching Johnny Marr and listening to some of the tones he got from the GT100 so I jumped when it was on offer. I run it through a small Behringer mixing desk into two Yamaha DBR12's and all I can say is that it sounds awesome.
As a change to my usual random approach I went through each preset and made a note what it reminded me of or what it might be useful for,if I liked the patch. Its a testament to the board that out of the 200 presets I marked nearly 50 out for being useful out of the box.
Now i just refer to that sheet and if I have a cover song I want to try or a feel for an original piece I just the closest preset as a starting point.
There are so many features on this board its pointless trying to list them but suffice to say its got everything you are going to need, and there is always the effects loop if you are missing some random effect.
What else can I say, oh yes its improving my playing as I use the metronome on it loads, really helping me improve my speed. The screens are clear and easy to view, and the whole menu is very intuitive to work with.
Gets a definite thumbs up from me absolute winner of a product :)
