The Fender 1963 Telecaster Relic RW Aged Lake Placid Blue #CZ585068 at a glance
The Fender 1963 Telecaster Relic RW Aged Lake Placid Blue #CZ585068 is all about a true classic in Fender history. Just like the 1963 Telecaster, the Tele from the FenderCustom store in Corona, California, relies on a high-quality selection of proven tonewoods and authentic components as they were used in the sixties. As a special highlight, the 1963 Telecaster Relic RW Aged Lake Placid Blue with its nitrocellulose finish, which has undergone a detailed relic treatment, also has a lot to offer visually. As a genuine Telecaster from the FenderCustom store, the 1963 Telecaster naturally comes in a matching hardshell Case and with a signed certificate of authenticity.
Two-piece alder body & Rift Sawn Maple Neck
To evoke the classic resonance characteristics of a sixties Tele, Fender relies on the tried and tested combination of alder and maple. While the body is made up of two parts of selected alder, the neck is made of so-called Rift Sawn Maple. The rift cut produces the highest quality neck blanks, as the annual rings run from headstock to neck heel and give the neck absolute stability. In contrast to typical Telecasters of the fifties, the 1963 Telecaster offers a somewhat slimmer '60s oval C-shaping, which gives the fretting hand more freedom for virtuoso techniques. The neck is finished off with a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard in AAA quality.
Hand-wound Custom Shop pickups
The pickup configuration of the 1963 Telecaster Relic RW Aged Lake Placid Blue is made up of two absolute pickup classics from FenderCustom Shop: while a hand-wound "Twisted" Tele single-coil provides expressive growl in the neck position, the original Blackguard single-coil at the bridge, also wound by hand, provides a particularly transparent sound with coveted 'twang'. The underlying wiring, on the other hand, remains classic and relies on a pickup selector switch with three positions, a MasterVolume and a Master tone to be able to call up the complete Telecaster spectrum at any time.
