With the Gibson 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue ULA DoubleGold electric guitar, the Gibson Custom Shop presents a historically accurate special model that should appeal especially to fans of classic Fifties Paulas from the pre-humbucker era. The 1956-style Les Paul is the only instrument of the era to combine a double P90 with the advantages of the resonant and adjustable Tune-o-Matic/Stopbar combination and has an extremely unique sound character.
The Gibson 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue ULA Double Gold with two Custom Soapbar P90 pickups and No-Wire ABR-1 bridge presents itself as a genuine Mid Fifties Les Paul.
The neck is glued with Long Neck Tenon and Hide Glue and comes in a strong "'50s Rounded Medium C" profile.
Traditional construction for an unmistakable Les Paul feel
Built as a classic Fifties LP, the Gibson 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue ULA DoubleGold #64022 uses only traditional woods in a familiar construction. The body of the 56 Les Paul is made of one-piece, lightweight mahogany for a balanced strap balance and is finished with a two-piece maple top and additional Royalite binding. All glue joints are glued historically correct with hot hide glue. The mahogany neck represents the powerful "'50s Rounded Medium C" profile of the mid '50s Les Pauls and offers enough wood for secure chord playing and expressive leads. The unmistakable Paula feel is also very noticeable here on the rosewood fingerboard thanks to the use of Historic Narrow Tall fret wires in the original format of the early models.

The two Alnico single coils in the cream-colored Soapbar housing combine the powerful Attack of the single coil with powerful mids thanks to their wider coil winding and are still one of the most popular pickup designs for classic rock sounds today. Both pickups are controlled by hand-wired electronics with high-quality CTS pots for volume and tone control and paper-in-oil capacitors for harmonic Treble roll-offs.
