Flamed maple top and mahogany neck with long neck foot
The core of the Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard Cherry Tea Burst Light Aged lies in its construction, made from carefully chosen tonewoods reminiscent of the late 1950s. The body is crafted from a solid piece of mahogany and topped with a two-piece curly maple top featuring an elegant flame. Naturally, the long neck tenon of the mahogany neck, which extends right up to the neck pickup, is a key element in the recipe for an authentic Fifties Les Paul.

Gibson Custom Bucker with paper-in-oil caps
To reproduce the legendary sound of the original PAF humbuckers, Gibson uses faithful replicas of the coveted double-coil pickups with two Custom Bucker humbuckers. The hand-wound pickups from the Gibson Custom Shop use Alnico III magnets for a warm and vocal tone and have non-waxed coils to preserve the clarity and treble content of the signal. The fully hand-wired electronics include authentic components from the golden LP era, with CTS potentiometers for Volume and Tone and paper-in-oil capacitors.
Murphy Lab Light Aged Treatment
The Murphy Lab, founded by aging expert Tom Murphy, is composed of specialists who analyze the finish and aging process of original instruments in detail and authentically recreate them for the 1959 Les Paul Standard Cherry Tea Burst Light Aged. The Light Aged treatment represents a subtle aging process that simulates the natural wear of a well-cared-for instrument that has seen years of playing. The composition of the nitrocellulose lacquer has also been carefully considered so that the instrument continues to develop a tasteful patina over time.
